US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Young Olympians Program
| |
 |
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) is a national program to identify and develop high-level youth players throughout the country to represent their state association, region and the United States in soccer competition. US Youth Soccer ODP teams are formed at the state association and regional levels, made up of the best players in various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams. The Young Olympians Program (YOP) is a state program to identify and develop youth players in the next age year younger than the US Youth Soccer ODP program. For additional information, contact the State Office or the Associate Technical Director. |
General Information
- Recommend players for US Youth Soccer ODP and for YOP
Team coaches and NMYSA Staff coaches can use the following web pages to make player recommendations. Please follow the instructions on the next page.
- Player recommendations for US Youth Soccer ODP and for YOP must come as written recommendations (e-mail is OK) from the player's coach to the NMYSA officesee the link above.
- Playing Opportunities: Playing Opportunities are one way for players to make the ODP pool for their respective age group. At a playing opportunity, players participate in a small amount of training with the ODP staff coaches and then play small- and/or full-sided games. During this process the ODP staff coaches evaluate the players and recommend those they feel should be invited to join the ODP pool. The playing opportunities are free to all with only one form that needs to be submitted, the ODP Playing Opportunity Registration Form. We will have these forms available to fill out at the events, but you can also download it (at the above link), fill it out, and submit it to us at the event.
- Financial assistance
Some financial assistance may be available for US Youth Soccer ODP and for YOP participants who are NMYSA-registered players in good standing, based on individual need.
