Matt Geisel Wins National Coaching Award
NMYSA would like to congratulate Matt Geisel on being recognized as a Liberty Mutual Responsible Coach. The award honors nearly 100 soccer and football coaches countrywide who best reflect character-building and sportsmanship in their approach to mentoring young athletes. Matt, the current president of Rio Rancho Soccer Club, was awarded $500 in a ceremony on March 8th.

Geisel was among thousands of coaches countrywide nominated online by parents, peers and organizations between Sept. 17 and Dec. 7, 2007. Liberty Mutual launched ResponsibleSports.com last fall in partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance, US Youth Soccer and USA Football. The online resource provides parents and coaches with advice, toolkits and best practices on coaching and mentoring today's youth, so they can maximize the positive role they play in young athletes' lives. For additional information and a photograph, see the attached announcement.   [goto Pagetop]

NMYSA and Full90 Sports sign sponsorship agreement
Albuquerque, NM (Sept, 2004)—New Mexico Youth Soccer Association (NMYSA), one of the nation's more progressive youth soccer sanctioning bodies, announced today it will allow the use of head protection in all sanctioned play. It has signed an exclusive agreement with Full90 Sports, the leading manufacturer of head protection for soccer players. Under the terms of the agreement, Full90 Sports will be the exclusive headguard provider and the only the head protection company that will be able to offer its product as optional equipment as part of the player registration process.

"There has been a debate about head protection for a long time in soccer. As long-time soccer enthusiasts, we recognize the importance of offering the safest environment possible for all of our players and want to act progressively with regard to new innovations in the game. By doing this sponsorship with Full90, we hope to make the product more visible and accepted within our community," said John Madding, NMYSA Director of Coaching & Education.

"We are delighted to have developed this relationship with NMYSA to promote the great sport of soccer and safety," said Mark Skeen, Vice President of Marketing, Full90 Sports. "NMYSA maintains its innovative nature by partnering with us to allow these safety measures and to potentially reduce the risk of head injuries."

About the Full90 Headguard: The Full90 Performance Headguard provides soccer players a heightened level of protection by reducing risks associated with head-to-head or head-to-foot contact, without affecting their style of play. Unlike other headguards, the Full90 Performance Headguard was designed within the concept of Performance Protection Technology (PPT), a new category and guideline process for developing protective athletic equipment that Full90 engineers pioneered. At its core, PPT combines applied physics, engineering, and design with a deep appreciation for the heart and soul of an athlete, as well as absolute respect for the game they play. Dynamic Research Inc. (DRI) has conducted extensive tests on the Full90 Headguard and documented the reduction of transmitted forces in typical head impacts in soccer.   [goto Pagetop]
