New Mexico Sports Authority
The New Mexico Sports Authority, a department of the New Mexico Tourism Department, entered the soccer scene in a big way in Dec 2009 when they became the first-ever Strategic Partner of NMYSA, the presenting sponsor of 2010 US Youth Soccer New Mexico Open State Cup and a major sponsor of the soccer complex at Bernalillo. They have also agreed to a very important presence at the 2010 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships. The New Mexico Sports Authority has the mission of increasing tourism to New Mexico through the promotion and facilitation of sporting events. They play a prominent role in over 40 events statewide, including the New Mexico Bowl, the Tour of the Gila, and the Whole Enchilada. This partnership is a major step forward for both organizations as the Sports Authority has taken a huge first step into the world of the beautiful game and NMYSA adds an out-of-state component to its strategic plan.
The NMYSA Board of Directors created the Strategic Partner designation for business organizations which share clear common goals with NMYSA – in this case, the promotion of tourism through successful soccer events in New Mexico. We are very excited to have their support for our programs and look forward to many years of a mutually rewarding relationship. You will hear much more about this relationship in the months to come.
