NMYSA welcomes new staff members

odpnm-150px After the departure of former Associate Technical Director Ubusuku Abukusumo (Ubusuku is now pursuing other business interests and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors), NMYSA is excited to announce the arrival of three new staff members—Heather Dyche, Andrew Duvall and Mary Baumgardner. These three individuals will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the Olympic Development Program (ODP), the Young Olympians Program (YOP) and the Player Development Program (PDP).

Girls ODP Director—Heather Dyche

Heather Dyche is from Albuquerque. She played college soccer at Florida State University and graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and a master’s degree in Athletic Administration. Upon graduating, she played professional soccer in Norway for a year before returning to Albuquerque. Since 2005 Heather has been a coaching director for a local youth club, has served on the NMYSA ODP and Instructional coaching staff and is currently coaching high school. Heather holds a National Youth License and a USSF C license.  Contact Heather.

Boys ODP Director—Andrew Duvall

Andrew Duvall stopped playing competitive soccer upon finishing his collegiate career at Concordia University of Portland, OR, in 2003. While competing at CU he completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Andrew began to coach soccer full time with Highline Football Club (HFC) in Seattle, WA, in 2004 where he became the Director of Youth Development in 2005. He also assisted one year with Highline Community College men’s soccer program. Andrew stayed with HFC as a Head Coach, Staff Coach and Director of Youth Development until 2007. In January of 2007, Andrew moved to Albuquerque and continued his coaching career by taking a Director’s role with a youth club in Albuquerque. He also began his coach licensing education and in the last three years has earned his E certificate, National D License, USSF C License and National Youth License.  While in Albuquerque Andrew has also worked as an instructor for New Mexico Youth Soccer Association and as an ODP head and staff coach. Andrew is currently attending the University of New Mexico, completing a graduate degree in Physical Education with a Sports Administration/Coaching emphasis.  Contact Andrew.

ODP Administrator—Mary Baumgardner

Please help us welcome Mary Baumgardner to the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association as the new ODP Administrator. Mary has over 11 years experience with the City of Albuquerque, organizing and managing events. Her professional credentials are extensive and include education and management of the Highland Senior Center in addition to the event management. But more impressive, she is a soccer mom extraordinaire! Mary has been active in both the New Mexico and Colorado soccer communities for many years and has already proven to be an asset at NMYSA.
