NMYSA launches TOPSoccer coaching course
NMYSA is proud to announce a new TOPSoccer coaching course. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability
TOPSoccer was formed to perpetuate the US Youth Soccer mission statement which is, in part, "to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition." There are thousands of children with disabilities who need, and can be provided with, the opportunity to play soccer through the TOPSoccer program.
The “Coaching TOPSoccer” course is designed for the coach who may be coaching TOPSoccer players for the first time and may or may not have any playing background. The course focuses on activities that will identify ability-based games necessary to play soccer at any level. The course also gives candidates ideas on how to successfully plan and conduct training sessions geared towards enhancing individual performance.
The course will take place on Sunday May 1, 2011 from 12:30pm to 5pm at the NMYSA office and is free to attend. For more information please contact Joshua Groves, (505) 830-2246.
