Pat Grange, former Coach and Lobos Soccer player passed away this week after an 18-month battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease).
Pat played his youth soccer with the State Champion Classic Red Star, and was a member of the NMYSA ODP 82 Boys team. He played college soccer for the University of Illinois, transferring in his junior year to the University of New Mexico and helped the Lobos advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in his senior year.
As an adult, Pat played with the Albuquerque Asylum amateur league soccer team, then turned to coaching the next generation of soccer stars at the International Indoor Soccer Arena in Albuquerque. He also coached young players from around the state on NMYSA ODP Summer Camps.
Pat was a fantastic ambassador for the game of soccer and touched the lives of many parents, coaches and players. He will be sadly missed.
