SYRA Paul Quan presents 2013 NMYSA Male YROTY to Forrest Dunnahoo

Forrest Dunnahoo, a young New Mexico referee for the last three years, was named the Region IV Male Youth Referee of the Year for 2013.  Forrest attended the US Youth Soccer Convention in Philadelphia where he was nominated for National Youth Male Referee of the Year.  His recommendation letter for the Region IV award reads, in part:

“Forrest is a current Grade 6 Referee and a Grade 9 Associate Referee Instructor, and frequently mentors less experienced referees.   As a referee, Forrest has found his stride. He is regularly assigned challenging assignments in adult and youth leagues and performs his duties with poise, maturity and professionalism. He is always eager for feedback, and is quick to appropriately self-assess.  Forrest represents New Mexico with aplomb when he travels to regional events such as FWRC, Surf Cup and RTS.”

Forrest is a native of Washington state, but moved here with his family in 2011. He was a member of the National Honor Society (3.65 GPA) at Rio Rancho HS, and volunteers in his spare time at the St. Felix Food Pantry.  Forrest is currently enrolled at the University of New Mexico, With plans for a career in anesthesiology.

NMYSA heartily commends Forrest on his accomplishment and the hard work that it has taken to make himself into an elite referee.
